Daniel is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the SETI Institute. He began there in January 2021 on a NASA Archival Research Project titled "From Exocomets to Technosignatures: Hidden Occulters in Planetary Systems”. His research has focused on data mining astronomical data sets to find anomalous behavior in stellar systems, potentially indicative of novel astrophysics or even possible technosignatures. He uses machine learning to scour huge datasets attempting to systematize serendipitous discoveries that aren’t feasible with billions of individual targets to wade through. He is always working to make his research more accessible and developing tools to interact with data.
